What Do You Want to Measure?
Build, Learn and Explore with NASA's Open-Source Instrument, STELLA

STELLA (Science and Technology Education for Land/Life Assessment) is NASA's approach to making Earth observation science accessible through low-cost, community-buildable instruments that teach the same remote sensing principles used by satellites.

TUESDAY, 3 FEBRUARY  at 6:00 – 7:00 pm Eastern Time

Learn about the STELLA family of spectroscopic instruments (STELLA-Q2).  They allow for low cost real-time data collection for vegetation and land cover analysis, air quality monitors (STELLA-AQ) for atmospheric measurements, and heliophysics sensors (Helio-STELLA) for space weather monitoring, all designed for under $200 per instrument. These versatile platforms support applications ranging from precision agriculture and environmental monitoring to STEM workforce development and citizen science networks, focusing on hands-on learning and technical skill building.

STELLA bridges the gap between NASA's sophisticated satellite missions and community-level understanding, enabling users to explore measurement principles and remote sensing concepts while building the technical skills.
