NSTA's National Conference in Boston was cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns. NESTA is eager to support the presenters we sponsored by offering them a virtual option to reach you. We held a FREE virtual conference on Saturday, April 4, 2020 from 3 PM to 7:30 PM Eastern Time. Stayed tuned for more chances to connect with other educators!

Agenda

  • 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM Interactive Presentation - GeoHazard: Use Simulations to Explore Natural Hazards and the Risks They Pose to Human Lives. Explore classroom-tested curriculum that helps students investigate hurricanes, wildfires, and flooding, as well as the factors that contribute to risk and human impact.
  • 4:10 PM - 5:10 PM Virtual Share-a-Thon. Watch 5 to 10 minute videos from our presenters ahead of time. Then, ask questions and chat with them in Zoom rooms during the session.
  • 5:20 PM - 6:20 PM Interactive Presentation - On Board with MOSAiC: Unprecedented Science and Curriculum from a Year in the Arctic. MOSAiC stands for the Multidisciplinary drifting Observatory for the Study of Arctic Climate. Embark on an expedition with MOSAiC! Explore the Arctic of the past and present through a nature of science unit.
  • 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM Virtual Friends of Earth Science Reception. NESTA and its partners will give awards to recognize excellence in Earth Science teaching. Join us as we honor amazing educators! We will applaud and toast them from our living rooms! Come see old friends and meet new ones....virtually.
