A bill has been introduced in the Kansas legislature this week that would prohibit the promotion of sustainability.

Conferences
As a way to engage our membership and showcase NESTA as the premier Earth Science education association in the country, NESTA participates in numerous conferences across the country throughout the year. In the spring, the NESTA presence at the National Science Teachers Association’s National Conference on Science Education includes:
- a field trip,
- multiple Share-a-thons,
- a Friends of Earth Science Reception,
- the NESTA Earth and Space Science Resource Day Breakfast with a speaker,
- lectures from scientists on the forefront of Earth and Space Science research,
- a Rock and Mineral Raffle, and
- our Annual NESTA Membership meeting.
In the fall, NESTA hosts:
- a Share-a-thons and
- a Rock and Mineral Raffle
at each of the regional NSTA Conferences on Science Education.
NESTA also occasionally co-sponsors Field Trips, Field Conferences, and other conferences with other organizations and sponsoring agencies. For example, this past August, NESTA co-sponsored the annual MESTA conference. The usual MESTA conference lasts two days, but this conference was expanded to five days. The conference was hosted by Michigan Technological University, in Houghton, Michigan. Conference attendees were able to participate in a number of field trips that helped everyone learn more about the geologic history of Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
Please take advantage of these opportunities for professional development.
In particular, we welcome participation as presenters in our Share-a-thons and Rock Raffles – please click on these links for more information about how to participate!
